When every second counts, count on Baptist LifeFlight. LifeFlight helicopters can be airborne within minutes of a call, traveling at speeds of more than 150 miles per hour to transport critically ill or injured patients to the hospital and into the care of the Baptist team of emergency professionals.
In 1977, Baptist Hospital established their hospital-based aeromedical helicopter program, one of only three in the United States. Today, the Baptist LifeFlight program operates 24 hours a day, serving South Alabama, South Mississippi and Northwest Florida. Baptist LifeFlight nurses and paramedics are highly-trained and experienced in critical care. All on-board registered nurses have paramedic certifications, a minimum of three years nursing experience with one year of critical care and emergency department experience and are certified in both Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). All paramedics have a minimum of three years experience in a busy EMS service and hold ACLS and PALS certifications.
