KC Gartman

KC Gartman, VP, External Relations, Baptist Health Care
KC Gartman is Vice President of External Relations for Baptist Health Care. In this role, KC provides leadership for the Baptist Health Care Foundation, government relations, faith and community health programs and Baptist’s community impact efforts. KC has been with Baptist since 2015.

KC has nearly 25 years of nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience in our community. KC earned both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of West Florida. She is a graduate of Leadership Pensacola, Leadership Northwest Florida and is a member of Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class 43. She is currently actively serving with several community organizations including FloridaWest Economic Development Agency, Florida’s Great Northwest, Florida’s Great Northwest Foundation, Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, Five Flags Rotary and Pensacola Symphony Orchestra.

Heather Moorer

Heather Moorer, Director
Heather has more than nearly 20 years of experience in health care development and has been with the Baptist Health Care Foundation for 15 years. In her role, she provides strategic leadership and oversight, driving the Foundation’s efforts to generate philanthropic support and enhance public awareness. Heather leads a variety of fundraising initiatives targeting individual donors, foundations and corporate partners to benefit Baptist Health Care. Her responsibilities include overseeing major gifts, grant writing, corporate giving and programs for grateful patients and families, as well as strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management and daily operations of the Foundation.

A native of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Heather is deeply involved in her community, with active participation in her church, First Baptist Pensacola, and several professional organizations, including the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Estate Planning Council of Pensacola, Association of Fundraising Professionals West Florida Chapter and Gulf Breeze Rotary. She is a proud alumna of Leadership Pensacola, class of 2018, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University.

Maegan Leonard

Maegan Leonard, Program Manager
Maegan celebrated 10 years with the Baptist Health Care Foundation, contributing to nearly 15 years of nonprofit experience. In her role, she plays a key part in driving philanthropic growth, contributing to the Foundation’s strategic fundraising initiatives and advancing the organizational Mission.

Maegan manages the Helping Hands annual team member giving campaign and its associated programs, oversees financial processes and donor fund accounts, leads grant writing and management efforts, cultivates donor relationships and supports major gift campaigns and Foundation events. As the Foundation’s marketing liaison and social media manager, Maegan enhances communication and outreach efforts across donors, internal teams and the broader community.

Maegan is actively engaged in Pensacola community, as well as the internal Baptist Serve Team. She previously served on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals West Florida Chapter, including as President in 2020, and co-chaired the National Philanthropy Day committee for two consecutive years during her seven years on the board. A 2016 Leadership Pensacola alumna, Maegan continues her involvement by serving on the Leadership Pensacola curriculum committee and chaired the class project for two consecutive years. Maegan is an ambassador for Gulf Coast Kid’s House and a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of West Florida.

Sophia Frome

Sophia Frome, Foundation Operations Specialist
Sophia has worked in development for 15 years and has been with the Baptist Health Care Foundation for more than eight years. She is responsible for managing the Raiser’s Edge donor database. She also oversees the day-to-day administrative tasks and all integrated technology systems. Sophia is responsible for the philanthropic data needs of the Foundation including maintaining donor records, designing analytical reports and managing philanthropy technology, as well as providing prospect research support. She also provides support for all Foundation special events.

Sophia was previously at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, and is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a degree in English. She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland.

Melissa Schmiedeskamp

Melissa Schmiedeskamp, Donor Relations Coordinator
Melissa has worked for the Baptist Health Care Foundation for nearly 7 years and is responsible for donor engagement, leadership of special events and execution of fundraising initiatives. She designs, plans and leads donor-focused programs and events, cultivates relationships, and supports strategic campaigns for the Foundation including the annual fundraising events, Casino Royale and Stepping Out in Style fashion show, as well as manages the annual giving campaign for its Mammogram Fund.

She manages the administrative duties for the Foundation board of directors and is also responsible for annual giving, appreciation and campaign events. In addition, Melissa manages the Women's Board of the Foundation and works with the board to promote Baptist Health Care's Mission through quarterly meetings, Women's Night Out events and fundraisers throughout the year.

Melissa previously was the director of catering and convention services for the Hilton on Pensacola Beach and has over 13 years of event management experience. Melissa is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and an active volunteer with a local equine rescue. She is a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in communication.
