Please share why you became a Women’s Board member. Why is Baptist important or special to you?
Baptist is special to me for very personal reasons. Twenty eight years ago, when my mother was the age that I am now, she had a traumatic health event with a very low chance of survival. She spent several weeks in a coma at Baptist Hospital, and through the exceptional care, concern and dedication of the physician assigned to her case, as well as that of the nurses and staff, she did survive against all odds and was able to be added to a liver transplant list.
In 1998, she had a successful liver transplant, and with her continued care through the Baptist Health Care system, she lived another 25 years until her passing in 2023. I do believe that without Baptist, I would not have received the gift of an additional 25 years with my mom. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to give back and serve as a Women’s Board member.
What would you like Women’s Board members to know about you – your experience, background, education and family?
I grew up in New Orleans but have lived in the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area for the last 39 years. I have practiced as a CPA in public accounting and in other similar roles for 40 years and worked as a stylist for a clothing company for 10 years. I currently work part-time in our family-owned custom home building business. My husband of 42 years and I have two grown children and are blessed with three granddaughters.
Please share a moment or experience that you, a friend or a loved one experienced as a Women’s Board member.
I have loved serving as a model and a vendor over the last several years for the Stepping Out in Style Fashion Show, which is the largest fundraising event for the Women’s Board. It is such a fun and memorable event, supporting various initiatives of Baptist Health Care.
