Meet Foundation Board Chair and Community Member, Margaret Stopp.

Please share why you became a Baptist Foundation board member. Why is Baptist important or special to you?
I was first asked to serve on the Baptist Foundation Board almost 15 years ago. The Foundation's commitment is to support Baptist in its mission to help people throughout life's journey. That means financially supporting medical services as well as supporting team members. Since 2016 I've been chair of the Foundation and a member of the Baptist Board. It is gratifying to have the opportunity to contribute time, money and expertise to an organization committed to supporting patients and employees who foster a culture of caring and love.
What would you like Baptist team members (employees) to know about you — your experience, background, education and family?
Since moving to Pensacola over 30 years ago, I've had the chance to be involved with a number of nonprofits whose goals included advancing the quality of life in the community. I've been honored to serve on various boards related to education, the legal profession, mental health advocacy, local government and service to the community. As an attorney, I've represented local governments, educational institutions, local businesses and individuals in need of legal services. Pensacola is home to me and my family.
Please share a Baptist Way moment or experience that you, a friend, or loved one experienced at Baptist (a positive story that reflects the Baptist culture).
As a board member I am humbled and inspired by examples of the extra mile team members travel, showing their humanity and love for others. Baptist has a culture that runs deep, encompassing all employees doing for others who are vulnerable and dealing with health-related matters from birth to death. It is gratifying to be a part of a critical local health care organization that fundamentally impacts the community, which includes my family, friends and all those who are in need of health care services.
