Meet Baptist Board Member and Community Leader, John Peacock

Please share why you became a Baptist board member. Why is Baptist important or special to you?
I appreciate all that Baptist has done over many years for the community and for my family. The fact that Baptist is the area’s only not-for-profit healthy system that is based in and led from within this community and that every decision is made by folks who live, work, and play in our community is important to me. My wife, Jerre, and her family have received care at Baptist, as have my parents and me. The impact that Baptist has in our community is enormous. I have been in wealth management for 29 years, all here in Pensacola. As a Certified Financial Planner® with Edward Jones Peacock Wealth Management Team, I see the impact that health has on someone’s ability to enjoy their retirement years.
What would you like Baptist team members to know about you—your experience, background, education and family?
I have been very active in the community for the past 29 years. I have served on countless boards and created and run the Panhandle Charitable Open golf tournament for 18 years, during which we contributed $1.8 million to local charities. I have a CFP® and several other designations in the wealth management field. I also started the effort to change the form of government in Pensacola to the current strong mayor format.
Please share a Baptist Way moment or experience that you, a friend, or a loved one experienced at Baptist.
Every single interaction I have ever had with Baptist employees epitomizes The Baptist Way. I am comforted to know that everyone who receives care from Baptist is treated like a loved one. We were so moved by the mission of the new hospital that we decided to contribute. We named the Peacock Family Heart Center for the cardiovascular and heart services that Baptist offers.
