Sherry Hartnett, BHC Vice President and Chief Marketing & Development Officer

Sherry leads the Foundation and creates strategic plans to develop philanthropic resources. These resources support programs and services offered by Baptist Health Care to improve the quality of life in our community.

Sherry is a professional marketing and development executive with more than 20 years experience. She has earned numerous recognitions for her work, including the Newspaper Association of America's national Distinguished Marketing Achievement Award. Sherry and her teams have won more than a hundred local, regional, national and international marketing awards. A member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and the American Hospital Association's Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, Sherry also is an active member of the Pensacola community and serves on many local boards.

Sherry earned her bachelor's degree in marketing from Towson University in Towson, Md., and her master's degree in management from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.

Dion Guest, Executive Director

Dion Guest is the executive director of the Baptist Health Care Foundation. Dion is responsible for generating income and public awareness through fundraising programs targeting a broad base of foundations and donors — individual and corporate — with a primary focus on major and planned giving. He also manages the daily operations of the Foundation office and staff.

Dion joined the Foundation from the University of Kentucky Office of Development where he served for 10 years as director of estate and planned giving. He earned his juris doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law and is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association. Dion is a United States Marine Corps veteran. He served in the Persian Gulf War and earned numerous military honors for service in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

Katherine Champlin, Director of Development

Katherine is responsible for securing financial gifts to support services throughout Baptist Health Care. Through fundraising events, programs and outreach she works with individuals, businesses and foundations that share Baptist Health Care's passion for improving the quality of life in our community.

 

Katherine previously worked at the University of West Florida as Public Relations and Development Coordinator for the College of Professional Studies. Prior to that, Katherine was Vice President of Community Development for the Pensacola Area Chamber of Commerce. Katherine earned her master's degree from Troy State University and her bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida.

Brett Aldridge, Director of Development, Andrews Institute Foundation

Brett is responsible for generating income and public awareness of the Andrews Institute, including the Andrews-Paulos Research & Education Institute, through fundraising programs targeting a broad base of individual and corporate donors, and foundations.

Brett served as a director of development for Mississippi State University where he identified, cultivated and solicited individual prospects for major gift contributions. Brett earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications and a Master of Business Administration from Mississippi State University.

Candy McGuyre, Public Relations and Development Director

Candy is responsible for developing marketing initiatives to generate awareness of the Baptist Health Care Foundation and to increase donor income through fundraising programs.

 

Candy is from Milton, Fla. She began her career with Baptist Health Care in 1998 and most recently served as regional marketing manager for Atmore Community, Gulf Breeze and Jay hospitals, Baptist Manor, and Baptist Medical Parks on University Parkway and in Navarre.

 

McGuyre earned a bachelor's degree in communications from University of West Florida and is pursing a master’s degree in health care administration.

Heather Moorer, Project Manager

Heather is responsible for managing the development operations of the Baptist Health Care Foundation, including the reporting of all financial transactions for which the office is given oversight. In addition, she is responsible for researching prospective donors and managing the donor database and tracking system software.


Heather is from Gulf Breeze, Fla., and is an active volunteer in the community with the Junior League of Pensacola, Krewe of Marionettes and Gulf Breeze Elementary School.


Heather earned her bachelor's degree in apparel merchandising, design and production management with a minor in business from Auburn University.

Jerry Maygarden, Advisor

Jerry is a professional foundation executive with 30-years experience in philanthropy and public affairs. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including regional Addy Awards, the MacEachern Citation, and the Touchstone Award. He is also a recipient of the Silver Medal Award from the American Advertising Federation, and the Impact Award for Government Service from the Florida Public Relations Association.

Jerry is an accomplished speaker and author. He has published numerous monographs, books and essays. He is a recipient of the George Washington Honor Medal from the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge, and the Bronze Medal for Good Citizenship from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Jerry is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators, and a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International.
